Creative Blog Hop

Monday, November 10, 2014

Hi friends, my friend Mindy nominated me to participate in a Creative Blog Hop.  The idea is that artists and crafters could get to know each other. Here are my responses to the questions:

1.  What am I working on right now?  I  am working up class samples for the first half of 2015 for Roadhouse Arts.  I am also perpetually working on samples and stamp designs for Paper Wings.  Besides my personal creative endeavors I am also usually working on projects for school.  I have returned to school to pursue a master's degree in Art Therapy.

2. How does my work differ from others in my genre? I try hard not to compare my work to others.  If I try and get inspired by looking at other's art I have found that it only stifles my own creativity.  I don't know what makes my art different, I would suppose it's different because it comes from within me.

3.  Why do I create what I do?
I make art because it's what I want to do.  The creative process is innate and simply part of my life.  I try not to overthink things and just create, spontaneity works best for me.  I also have a deep love for art materials and techniques.  I like to create and share the ideas and techniques with others.  One of my favorite quotes that really rings true is-

“You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

4.  How does my creative process work?  I touched on this above.  I'm not much of a pre-planner.  I like to just sit down and start doing things.  I often joke that my projects are based on what's near by on my desk.  I hate getting up to look for things I want to use.  I find it's a real creativity buster.

All of my friends have already participated in the creative blog hop.  But if you're looking for inspiration, these amazing ladies are worth checking out.  Their endless creativity never ceases to amaze me.
