Happy New Year

Hello blog friends!

Happy New Year!  I have enjoyed some much needed time off and during that time off my mind was racing with all kinds of ideas for the new year.  I will have my upcoming classes posted soon, so I hope you will check back.

Today I am participating in my first ever blog hop with my design team for my company Paper Wings Productions.  To celebrate our new design team, we are all creating projects with a "friendship" theme.  You can win a $25 store credit at Paper Wings Productions, all you have to do is visit all of the links in the blog hop.  Leave a comment at each site and then head over to the Aviary, Paper Wings Productions' blog and let us know you completed the hop.  You can win extra chance to win by liking our Facebook page and sharing the hop with your friends.

My project starts with a book page.  I have TONS of book pages as I upcycle a lot of Reader's Digest Books and create new books and albums.  This almost always means that I remove all of the pages from the book.  I'm always looking for ways to use up the pages.  I started off with applying a layer of gesso over the book page.  I do this technique often, as you can see in my layout in the current Stamper's Sampler.

After the gesso dried, I stamped the picture frame from the Snapshot Framer set with black Versafine ink.  I took a light blue marker and went around the inside and the outside of the frame.  Then I stamped "sending you" from the Winter Mix It Up set in the frame and the "love" from the Snapshot Framer set at the bottom.

I inked a chipboard heart with embossing ink and embossed with Holly Berry Red Gold Embossing Powder.  Next, I stamped the dragonfly wings from the Mini Wings Set on a book page and cut out.  I layered the book page on top of decorative paper and then onto a kraft colored card.  I stamped one of the borders on the Snapshot Framer set around the edge of the card.

I hope you are enjoying the hop.  Be sure to visit all the sites and leave a comment to be eligible for the prize!
