Here are the class descriptions and photos for the classes:
Upcycled Book Project- Domino mini book
The upcycled book project for this month is a pair of dominoes that will be stamped, colored, and then turned into book covers. The binding will be a simple, 2 needle coptic stitch. No previous bookbinding experience is required. If you have bookbinding supplies, you are encouraged to bring them. We will also be using water based markers (Tim Holtz, Le Plume, Tombow...) you are more than welcome to bring your own. All other materials will be provided.
Paper Wings Productions Workshop- Simple Style Collage Stamping
This month's pwp workshop will feature 3 different stamped cards all done in a collage style. Techniques include solid image stamping, glossy paper resist stamping, and paper piecing. Participants are encouraged to bring scissors and adhesive with them. All other materials will be provided.
Art Jounal Club- Gesso
In this technique based workshop series, we create collage pages centered around a new technique every month. These pages are added to an "art journal" as a way to keep your collages organized. This month, come join us and explore the uses of gesso in a collage. Gesso is an important art supply to get your canvas ready for painting. You can buy gesso readymade from any art supply shop. Gesso is very similar to white acrylic paint, only thinner. It dries hard, making the surface more stiff. Gesso prepares (or "primes") the surface for painting, making the surface slightly textured and ready to accept acrylic paint. We will create a 6"x6" collage in class. Suggested supply list for this series: Collage images, adhesive, scissors, favorite embellishments, an assortment of favorite inks from your collection.
Bookbinding: Secret Belgium Binding
Join us for a different bookbinding project the third Saturday of the month. Projects all focus primarily on the binding, and not so much on decorating covers. This book features an interesting pattern of weaving that laces the front and back covers to the spine. It has hard covers and will lay flat when opened. You have a choice of making a holiday or non-holiday book. Basic supply list for this series: heavy duty awl, bone folder, scissors, pencil, ruler, bookbinding or embroidery needles and PATIENCE!
