I am starting two new monthly workshops. Both will fall on the 3rd Saturday of the month (which happens to be THIS Saturday) at Stamp Antonio. I am very excited about both series, thanks to Rebecca Cohen for pushing me to do them.
First up is
Art Journal Club (AJC)-
You don't need to be an artist to enjoy this series of workshops! Collage is unlike any other artistic medium because you don't have to start from scratch, you borrow materials to make your art. Join Carrie as we play with different techniques and mediums on a journey to help you find your creative voice. Each month we will focus on a technique and a theme. You will be given a handout to spur ideas, give suggestions, and prompt spontaneous creativity. We will be creating collage "pages" that can be added to an "art journal" as a way to keep your pages organized. During our first club meeting in September, we will be creating covers for our pages and focusing on the basic elements of collage. Pages will be 6"x6". Although we always love to have you join us, students are not required to attend each month, sign up for one or all of these classes! Please bring a basic tool kit of scissors, adhesive, and always feel free to bring collage imagery (photos, clippings from a magazine...) to work with.
Book Arts Saturdays (BAS)-
Join us for a different project the third Saturday of every month. Projects will all focus primarily on the binding, and not so much on decorative embellishments and design. Class size will be limited due to the nature of these workshops. Supply list for this series: bone folder, bookbinding or embroidery needles, heavy duty awl, scissors, pencil, ruler, and PATIENCE!
Hope to see you there!
